Course description
Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is a two day course that focuses on providing specific knowledge and skills to help healthcare professionals effectively manage trauma patients in the prehospital setting.
PHTLS is a NAEMT approved course designed for Paramedics and other health professionals who work in emergency or trauma environments.
What you will learn
The Prehospital Trauma Life Support course teaches the following knowledge and skills:
- Recognition, assessment and management of the critically ill patient using a structured ABCDE approach (aiming to prevent cardiac arrest)
- Airway management skills
- Basic Life Support
- Emergency circulatory access, fluid administration and medications
- Defibrillation skills (Manual and AED modes)
- Cardiac arrest management
- Work as an effective team member in a cardiac arrest

Pre-Requisites
There are no formal prerequisites for this course. Pre-course materials and e-learning content is sent two weeks before the start of the course.
Dress Code
Neat casual clothing and enclosed footwear suitable for safe practice of the skills including hands-on CPR.

Cancellations
