Course description
The HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support course is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond promptly and confidently to various life-threatening situations that may occur in both healthcare and non-healthcare settings.
The course emphasises the importance of basic life support techniques and the role they play in improving the chances of survival and recovery.
What you will learn
The Provide Basic Emergency Life Support course teaches the following knowledge and skills:
- Legal and ethical considerations of providing Basic Emergency Life Support
- Basic Life Support (BLS) techniques, focusing on CPR resuscitation for adults, children and infants
- DRSABCD Action Plan
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) usage
- Asthma and Anaphylaxis
- Recognition of medical conditions; shock and allergic reactions
- Management of choking and non life-threatening bleeding
- Infection control measures
- Continuous Assessment and Monitoring

Who Should Participate
- Workers who have not completed Basic Emergency Life Support training
- People seeking the Tri-annual re-qualification assessment
- Minimum age to participate is 14 years
Pre-Requisites
There are no formal prerequisites for this course. Additional online learning is required for participants without previous current certificate.

Dress Code
Neat casual clothing and enclosed footwear suitable for safe practice of the skills including hands-on CPR.

Should a cancellation be advised more than 10 working days prior to the course, an 80% refund will apply. Substitutions or transfers can be made without penalty.
