FAQs

TOP 5 QUESTIONS

While course transfers are possible under certain conditions, the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) has established strict guidelines that we must follow. If you have a confirmed booking, you are allowed to transfer to another Parasol course of the same type (e.g., ALS1 to ALS1), subject to availability, up to 34 days prior to the start of the course. Please note there is a $99 administration fee associated with this change. So, if you’d like to transfer your course, please email your request to booking@parasol.edu.au

We’re generally unable to permit course transfers that are requested within 34 days or less of the course’s start date, due to the ARC’s restrictions.

Beyond this cooling-off period, we require a minimum of 25 days’ notice for cancellation. Cancellations made more than 25 days before the course incur a $99 administration charge. This will incur a 50% payment of the total booking fee plus a $99 administration charge. Parasol has a no refund policy after this time, as, unfortunately, we are unable to fill the place vacated due to ARC policy.

This section is for you if you’ve questions about the course types we offer; accreditation and the great CPD value we offer our candidates.

The ARC ALS 1 course has been developed for participants that would not normally manage deteriorating patients or cardiac arrest as part of their normal clinical role. The course is focused on foundation skills and knowledge development. The course is suitable for clinicians who work outside of critical care areas or are new/developing critical care clinicians such as ward-based nurses, GPs, paramedics, and community health care workers.

The ARC ALS 2 course has been developed for participants who work in critical care areas or may be responsible for the management or care of the deteriorating patient or cardiac arrest.  The course is focused on the development of higher-level skills and knowledge over the ALS 1 course. The course is suitable for clinicians who work in critical care areas such as ED or ICU nurses and doctors, critical care paramedics and emergency team leaders.

No, the ALS1 is not a prerequisite to attending the ALS2.

The ALS1 is a standalone course designed for clinicians that have infrequent exposure to cardiac arrest or resuscitation events such as GPs and ward nurses.

The ALS2 covers the content of the ALS1 and expands for clinicians who are frequently dealing with critical care incidents, or who are teaching or leading emergency teams.

Yes, absolutely, our ALS courses provide CPD points/hours for multiple organisations. The number of points depend on the course you’re attending and the college awarding the points.
