TOP 5 QUESTIONS
ALS Courses:
- Transfer Window: You may transfer your confirmed ARC ALS course booking to another Parasol ALS course of the same type (e.g., ALS 1 to ALS 1) if you request it at least 28 days prior to the course start date, subject to availability.
- Fee: A $99 administration fee applies to each transfer.
- How to Request a Transfer: Email your request to booking@parasol.edu.au.
- Within 28 Days: Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate transfer requests made within 28 days of the course start date due to ARC restrictions.

ARC Courses:
You will receive your electronic certificate within 5 business days after completing your course.
RA Courses:
Once you successfully pass your ALS course, your certificate and credentials will be issued digitally. They can be accessed through our Learning Management System and securely delivered in an encrypted format to your nominated digital wallet - available 1 business day following course.
ALS 1 & 2, PALS 1 Courses:
- More than 28 days before course:
- Cancellations incur a $99 administration fee.
- Between 10 and 28 days before course:
- Cancellations incur 50% of the total booking fee plus a $99 administration fee.
- Within 10 days of the course:
- No refund available.
Additional Course Types and Policies:
- 14-Day Policy (First Aid courses):
- Cancellations must be made at least 10 days before the course start date.
- 14-Day Policy (Masterclass and HSR courses):
- Cancellations must be made at least 14 days before the course start date.
- 28-Day Policy (ALS 1 & 2, PALS 1):
- Cancellations must be made at least 28 days before the course start date (additional details as above).

COURSE TYPES, ACCREDITATION AND CPD
This section is for you if you’ve questions about the course types we offer; accreditation and the great CPD value we offer our candidates.
ALS 1:
Designed for professionals who may not regularly manage deteriorating patients or cardiac arrests, ALS 1 focuses on foundational skills and knowledge. This course is ideal for:
- Ward-based nurses
- General Practitioners (GPs)
- Paramedics
- Community healthcare workers
- Clinicians new to, or developing in, critical care roles
ALS 2:
Developed for those who work in critical care settings or are responsible for managing deteriorating patients or cardiac arrests, ALS 2 builds on the skills learned in ALS 1 with more advanced, in-depth training. This course is suited to:
- Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses
- Doctors working in critical care environments
- Critical care paramedics
- Emergency team leaders
No, completing ALS 1 first is not required. While ALS 1 is ideal for clinicians who have infrequent exposure to cardiac arrest or resuscitation (such as GPs and ward nurses), ALS 2 is tailored for those regularly involved in critical care incidents or responsible for teaching and leading emergency teams. ALS 2 builds on the foundational concepts covered in ALS 1, but it’s designed to stand alone—so you can enrol directly if it aligns better with your professional responsibilities and experience.
Yes. PARASOL is proud to hold accreditation as a course centre for both the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and Resuscitation Australia (RA). This dual accreditation ensures that every course we deliver meets the highest national standards for Advanced Life Support training, providing you with the professional credibility and peace of mind you deserve.
Yes. Our Advanced Life Support courses offer CPD hours across multiple professional colleges, with the exact allocation depending on the specific course and the awarding organisation.

ALS 1 and ALS 2 certificates remain valid for 4 years after successful completion. To help you maintain and update your skills, we also offer a dedicated ALS 2 Recertification course for eligible candidates. This ensures you stay current with the latest guidelines and best practices in Advanced Life Support.
No. PALS 1 is an in-house designed course tailored specifically for healthcare professionals who have less frequent exposure to paediatric clinical crises. Unlike the three-day APLS courses offered elsewhere, PALS 1 focuses on core competencies and practical scenarios for those who encounter paediatric emergencies less often.

This section is for you if you’re an individual considering booking onto a public/group course and have questions.
Course durations vary depending on the program. For full details, please review the specific course page. Once enrolled, refer to your course confirmation email for exact timing and instructions.
Typical Course Durations
- ALS 1 (ARC): 1 day, 7:50am – 5:15pm (Pre-course reading required)
- ALS 1 (RA): 4 hours, either 8:00am – 12:00pm or 1:00pm – 5:00pm (Pre-course eLearning mandatory)
- ALS 2 (ARC): 2 days, 8:00am – 5:15pm (Pre course reading required) (Finish time may vary based on assessments)
- ALS 2 (RA): 1 day, 7:50am – 5:00pm (Pre-course eLearning mandatory)
- ALS 2 Recertification (ARC): 1 day, 8:00am – 6:00pm (Finish time may vary based on assessments)
- ALS 2 Recertification (RA): 4 hours, either 8:00am – 12:00pm or 1:00pm – 5:00pm (Pre-course eLearning mandatory)
- iSimulate Masterclass: 1 day, 8:00am – 4:00pm
- First Aid: Half-day or full-day options (varies by course type)
- Health and Safety Representative: 5 days

Unless your organisation has an established account with Parasol, full payment is required at the time of booking. To secure your place, please complete your payment when enrolling. You can view upcoming courses and book online here.
For the latest course dates and availability, simply visit our courses page and select the program you’re interested in. We’re continually increasing our course offerings and locations—especially in 2025—so you’ll have more options to choose from.
When a course is marked “full,” it has reached its maximum capacity based on strict instructor-to-candidate ratios. Unfortunately, we can’t exceed these limits for quality and safety reasons.
What Are Your Options?
- Join the Waitlist: You can register for the waitlist, and if a spot becomes available, you’ll be automatically notified by email. Please note, joining the waitlist doesn’t guarantee a place.
- Check the Next Available Course: We recommend securing a confirmed spot on an upcoming course to ensure your participation.
- Keep an Eye Out for New Courses: We regularly add additional course dates and venues as resources allow, and we’ll notify those on our waitlists when these new opportunities become available.
When will I receive my pre-course reading material?
- ARC Courses: Physical course manuals are mailed out 30 days before your course begins.
- RA Courses: Pre-course learning is provided online, with eLearning access available 30 days in advance.
If you haven’t received your ARC course manual by then, please verify that your mailing address is correct in the student portal. If you still have questions, reach out to booking@parasol.edu.au for assistance.
Can I complete the ALS1, ALS2, or PALS1 courses entirely online? Do I have to attend in person?
ARC Courses:
No. These courses require in-person attendance to complete practical skill stations and simulations.
- ALS 1 (ARC): One full day of face-to-face training (7:50am–5:15pm)
- ALS 2 (ARC): Two full days of face-to-face training (7:50am–5:15pm)
RA Courses:
RA courses use a blended format, combining online eLearning with in-person training.
- ALS 1 (RA): Online eLearning plus a half-day face-to-face session (e.g., 8:00am–12:00pm)
- ALS 2 (RA): Online eLearning plus one full day of face-to-face training (e.g., 8:00am–5:00pm)
PALS 1 Course:
- Online eLearning plus one full day of face-to-face training (7.50am-5.15pm)

Additionally, candidates who perform well on an ALS 2 course, and demonstrate potential as future instructors, may be offered the opportunity to attend an Instructor course, at either ALS 1 or ALS 2 level.
