The ARC ALS 1 course has been developed for participants that would not normally manage deteriorating patients or cardiac arrest as part of their normal clinical role. The course is focused on foundation skills and knowledge development. The course is suitable for clinicians who work outside of critical care areas or are new/developing critical care clinicians such as ward-based nurses, GPs, paramedics, and community health care workers.

The ARC ALS 2 course has been developed for participants who work in critical care areas or may be responsible for the management or care of the deteriorating patient or cardiac arrest.  The course is focused on the development of higher-level skills and knowledge over the ALS 1 course. The course is suitable for clinicians who work in critical care areas such as ED or ICU nurses and doctors, critical care paramedics and emergency team leaders.

No, the ALS1 is not a prerequisite to attending the ALS2.

The ALS1 is a standalone course designed for clinicians that have infrequent exposure to cardiac arrest or resuscitation events such as GPs and ward nurses. The ALS2 covers the content of the ALS1 and expands for clinicians who are frequently dealing with critical care incidents, or who are teaching or leading emergency teams.

Yes, we are an Accredited Course Centre.

Yes, ALS courses provide CPD points/hours for multiple organisations. Points depend on the college.

ALS Level 1 and Level 2 Certificates are valid for 4 years on successful completion.

Those who perform outstandingly well on an ALS2 course and, in the view of the course faculty, show
potential as future instructors, may be offered the opportunity of attending an Instructor Course. This may
be at either ALS2 or ALS1 level. ARC Instructors remain current by educating on ARC ALS Courses.

Course fees are based on the location as some locations have higher venue and travel cost than others.

The ARC has strict Instructor to Candidate ratio per course, so if a course is showing as “FULL” it means the course has reached capacity.

You can  be placed on a “waitlist” by registering.

There are no guarantees of a place and we highly recommend booking into the next available course. We will contact you should a spot become available.

ALS1 = one day from 8:00am – 4:00pm

ALS2 = two days from 8:00am – 6:00pm (approximate finish time dependent on assessment outcomes)

ALS2 Refresher = one day from 8:00am – 6:00pm (approximate finish time dependent on assessment

iSimulate Masterclass is one day from 8:00am – 4:00pm

First Aid is 1/2 day and one day options

No. The APALS is an in-house designed course targeting those with less frequent exposure to paediatric clinical crisis. 

The course is designed for clinicians that have infrequent exposure to cardiac arrest or resuscitation events.

They are very different courses.

The APALS is an in-house designed One day face-to-face.

The APLS is a specialist course facilitated by APLS.org over three days.

Unfortunately, your place will not be reserved until full payment is made.

All enrolments and payments must be done through the website and paid in full at the time of booking.

For reservations involving more than three candidates, please get in touch with our team. They will help with the booking and payment method.

Course materials will be sent out 35 days before your course starts. If you have not received it, please contact support, as it may have been lost in the post.

Enrolments will be processed within two business days and you will receive a copy of your invoice and course registration details via email. Please contact bookings@parasol.edu.au if you have not received any communication from us 3 days after your enrolment.

We teach our courses all across Australia. Course locations are listed on the Course Dates section of this website next to each course. We can also provide onsite private training for groups or locations not currently covered by our timetable – please contact us for more information.

If you are absent for any reason we cannot swap you to another course. This includes reasons such as sickness, rostering issues or travel disruptions.

  1. Parasol does not offer refunds or exchanges as a result of a change in your personal circumstances or due to external factors such as, for example, adverse weather, covid, cancelled or delayed flights. We will only provide a refund or exchange a enrolment if an event is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly relocated by us (and you cannot or do not wish to attend the rescheduled or relocated event), or to the extent otherwise required by law (including the Australian Consumer Law).  relocation.

If an event is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly relocated by us, all liability is limited to the amount for which the ticket was purchased (including any fees or charges unless otherwise notified at time of purchase). Proof of purchase may be required for any refund or exchange.   3. You should carefully consider the refund and cancellation policies of travel, accommodation and other goods or service providers when making arrangements for attendance at a course. You may also wish to consider taking out a relevant insurance policy to cover for any losses in the event of cancellation, rescheduling or relocation.

Your ALS certificate will be made available once the results have been reviewed and shared with the accrediting body. This can take up to 7 days. Once your certificate is ready it will be emailed to you or you can access it via the student portal using the credentials provided in your enrolment confirmation email.

No. You are required to recertify within the 4-year period from the date listed on your Certificate. The ARC may provide consideration for expired participants in exceptional circumstances.

Any centre facilitating the course has the ability to complete a retest. You must contact them and schedule the retest in advance. Most centres will complete this without a fee but cannot be responsible for costs in attending the retest. 

Where possible you should complete a retest locally. A list of ARC Course centres is available on their website. 

Please note that courses may be postponed or cancelled by any course centre for many reasons.

No. The practical sessions, skill stations and simulations require teamwork and physical engagement for learning and assessment.

When booking your ticket, you have a 48-hour cooling-off period to request a cancellation. Please send an email with the details and date of the booking to bookings@parasol.edu.au The team will review the request and make a determination in line with the terms and conditions when booking.
All other cancellations will be assessed against the terms and conditions agreed upon when you made the booking. Please refer to the terms and conditions for your course selection.

No it is the responsibility of the candidate to register their CDP points with the appropriate college or institution.
