Course description
Advanced Life Support Level 2 (ALS2) Recertification is a 1 day course focusing on refreshing your ALS2 ARC Certificate. Develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence in participating in and leading medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest. ALS2 Recertification is an ARC accredited course designed for health professionals who work in critical care areas and regularly lead and participate in medical emergencies.
What you will learn
The Advanced Life Support 2 Recertification course teaches the following knowledge and skills:
- Recognise, assess and manage the deteriorating patient using a structured ABCDE approach
- Treat cardiac and respiratory arrest, including manual defibrillation
- Manage life-threatening arrhythmias
- Prepare and plan for post-resuscitation care
- Care for the deteriorating patient or patient in cardiac and respiratory arrest in special circumstances such as asthma, anaphylaxis, and pregnancy
- Lead a team, work as a team member, and use structured communication skills, including giving an effective handover

Who Should Participate
You must hold a current in-date Australian Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support 2 certificate to participate in the ALS2 recertification course.
Participants include health professionals working in critical care areas such as doctors and nurses in AAU, CCU, ED, HDU, ICU who are expected to lead and participate regularly as a team member in acute clinical events.

Pre-Requisites
You must hold a current ALS2 ARC certificate. We will send you the Australian Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support course manual four weeks prior to the course commencement for self-guided pre-reading. Course materials also include an optional multiple-choice exam with answers and explanations supplied for self-assessment.
Dress Code
Neat casual clothing and enclosed footwear suitable for safe practice of the skills including hands-on CPR.

Cancellations
Please note there is no refund for cancellation within 31 days if you cancel your course, including due to the impact of coronavirus or third-party travel issues. The course requires 100% attendance at all sessions to gain a successful pass. See also Terms and Conditions.
